From 2020, Kazakhstan has introduced new legislation under which all goods valued at €200 or weighing more than 31 kg are subject to a 15% customs duty on importation. This rule applies to all individuals. In the past, in order to pay a customs duty of 30%, it was necessary for a parcel to have a value of more than 500 euros.
To calculate the customs clearance price when importing goods, you need to use a simple formula: (price of goods – 200 euros) x 15%.
For example: (250 (price of goods) – 200 (duty-free limit)) x 15% = 7.5 euros – the amount of duty.
In certain cases, especially when shipping certain categories of goods, you may be required to provide a certificate of origin and a power of attorney to the customs agent.
In addition to taxes and duties, it is important to remember that there are bans on bringing certain categories of goods into Kazakhstan for security and economic protection reasons.
If more than one parcel of identical merchandise is sent to the same recipient within 72 hours, they may be treated as a consignment and their value will be calculated cumulatively.
It is important to note that each case may be different and it is advisable to seek the advice of professionals in the field of customs clearance and international shipping of goods
