The procedure for bringing any goods, items or substances into Ukraine is strictly regulated and if you or the sender have neglected its norms, you will face a trial with the customs authorities.

The main reasons for the detention of a parcel at customs include:

  • The contents of the parcel are prohibited or restricted to import into Ukraine.
  • There are mistakes or missing information in the documents. The value of the parcel or cargo exceeds the duty-free limit of 150 Euro and customs clearance is required.

How do I get a delayed parcel from customs?

You have 30 days to solve any issues; this is how long the parcel will be held by the customs, after which it will be sent back at your expense. If the parcel is held in customs warehouse for more than 5 days, there is a fee, and the cost of holding the parcel depends on the weight of the parcel.

If your parcel contains prohibited or restricted items or substances, you will not be able to process and receive it. In addition, depending on the contents, you may expect a fine or trial for violation of the customs code of Ukraine.

If there are mistakes in the documents you should ask the sender to change them to the correct data. If there is no value, you can provide a receipt or other acceptable evidence of the price of the goods or the correct inventory of the parcel.
