MULTIMODAL AND UNIMODAL TRANSPORTATION

This method is preferred for short distances or when both parties are close to a transportation hub. The main advantages of unimodal transportation include less risk of cargo damage, simplified tracking, and less paperwork and coordination.

However, they are limited in capacity for long-distance international shipments and may not be economically viable on long routes.

Multimodal transportation, or intermodal, involves the use of multiple modes of transportation in a single logistics process. For example, goods can be transported by air from China to Poland and from there by train or automobile to Ukraine.

The advantages of multimodal transportation include route optimization and cost reduction, increased flexibility and door-to-door delivery. As well as reduced transportation time by using the most efficient modes of transportation for each stage.

Disadvantages of multimodal transportation include difficulty in coordinating and managing logistics, as well as possible delays in changing transportation.

The choice between unimodal and multimodal transportation depends on specific needs and conditions.

Multimodal transportation is more commonly used for international shipments as it allows combining the advantages of different modes of transportation, providing flexibility and efficiency.

NEGOTIATING AND ACCREDITATION WITH CUSTOMS

Customs accreditation is the process of registering a company as a subject of foreign economic activity (FEA). It includes entering a company into a special register and receiving an accreditation card, which allows importing and exporting goods.

Why is accreditation with customs important?

Correct accreditation prevents delays and refusals during customs clearance of goods. Without accreditation it is impossible to legally import goods from China to Ukraine.

The main stages of accreditation:

What accreditation can help:

  • Legality of operations. Simplification and legalization of foreign economic operations.
  • Risk reduction. Elimination of the probability of refusal to transport goods across the border.
  • Efficient conduct of business. Acceleration of importation of goods from China, reducing the downtime at the border.

Negotiating accreditation:

  • Negotiations with customs authorities. Includes discussion of conditions, requirements and accreditation process.
  • Consultation and support. Specialists can provide information on requirements and help prepare documents.
  • Dispute resolution. Resolving possible problems and preventing conflicts at the registration stage.

Required documents for accreditation:

For legal entities:

  • Ask the sender to correct the data in the documents if there were mistakes or some information was missing.
  • Provide receipts for the item or printouts from the website if there was no price.
  • Go through customs clearance and pay the customs fee if the package is worth more than 150 euros.

List of documents that may be needed when ordering goods from China:

  • Passport data.
  • TIN.
  • Accreditation card of the legal entity (LLC, PE, etc.).
  • Contract, invoice, technical description of the goods, the packing list.
  • Permit for import of some or other samples of the goods, if required.

List of documents may vary depending on location and specificity of goods, as well as your legal status.

To receive a parcel from China, you need the following documents:

  • Passport, TIN code or other documents confirming the identity of the recipient, for non-citizens of Ukraine only passport.
  • Checks or printouts from the site showing the purchase price.
  • Bill of lading and invoice for the parcel - you can get it at the reception of the carrier or electronically to the post office.
  • Completed M16 declaration - a sample of the blank M16 form is provided by the carrier.
  • A receipt for payment of customs duties.

You can calculate the customs payments yourself by using a customs calculator or by contacting a customs broker. You can pay the duty through any payment system, such as Privat24 or through a payment terminal at the carrier's office.

The total cost of delivery of parcels or cargo from China to Ukraine may include two components:

  • The shipping cost set by the courier service (FedEx, UPS, TNT, DHL).
  • Customs duty, which is levied on any parcel with a value exceeding 150 euro.

For individuals - the 150 euro does not include the delivery price, and for legal entities - the duty-free limit of 150 euro includes the cost of delivery.

Example of duty calculation for parcels over 150 euro:

The notional value of the goods is 151 euros.

The base for taxation is: 151 - 150 = 1 euro.

Duty: (151 - 150) * 10% = 0,10 euro

Value Added Tax (VAT): (1 + 0.1) * 20% = 0.22 euro

Duty and taxes payable on a shipment of 151 €: duty 0.10 € + VAT 0.22 € = 0.32 €

* The approximate amount of charges at the rate of the NBU - (11.91 UAH) depends on the exchange rate set by the NBU on the date of the declaration.

The cost of delivery of parcels and freight from China to Ukraine depends on the chosen delivery service, weight, and dimensions:

  • The cost of delivery by courier service (FedEx, UPS, TNT, DHL can be calculated on the website of the carrier or agent).
  • Customs clearance is not included in the delivery charge.
Insurance of a parcel is paid separately.

It is also necessary to take into account that individuals and legal entities have different orders of customs clearance, which is not included in the delivery cost.

Example of delivery calculation for 10 kg parcels of size 50*20*20 cm:

Let's calculate the volume weight in cm: 50*20*20=20000/5000 = 4 kg

Cost of delivery calculation will be by actual weight of 10 kg

You choose the service delivery: express or economy.

Insurance is usually 1% of the price.

Packaging is at the expense of the sender.

Do the calculation on the site yourself or send a request for calculation to the managers of «Semero».
