( 2 ) When a parcel or cargo arrives in Ukraine, it goes to a customs control point, where it undergoes a mandatory inspection. The purpose of this inspection is to prevent contraband and prohibited goods or substances from entering the country, in addition, customs authorities record and send customs clearance packages whose value exceeds 150 euros.

According to Ukrainian legislation, parcels and shipments are subject to customs clearance:

  • Whose value, including delivery, exceeds 150 euro (for legal entities).
  • The value of which, more than 10,000 euro - a cargo declaration is filled out, and the amount of tax depends on the goods code.

The amount of tax for a parcel exceeding 150 euro is calculated from the difference of the value of the parcel minus the duty-free limit (150 euro). This difference accounts for 10% of the duty and 20% of VAT.

To receive the parcel you must have: documents confirming the identity of the recipient, fill out customs documents, and pay the duty.

After the payment is credited to the treasury account, you can pick up your shipment.

The «Semero» brokerage company is engaged in professional customs clearance of parcels and cargo of any complexity for legal entities. With us, you can be sure that customs clearance will take only hours.

Detention of a parcel at customs. What to do?

There may be several reasons for detaining a parcel at customs, for example:

  • The cost of the parcel, including shipping for legal entities, exceeds 150 euros, and you are required to pass customs clearance.
  • There are errors or missing information in the accompanying documents to the parcel.
  • Your shipment violates the laws of Ukraine.

In the latter case, you face not only deprivation of cargo but also possible criminal or administrative responsibility

First of all, you need to find out what the reason for the detention is. The customs authorities are obliged to inform you of this at your request, both as a consignee and as a customer.

If the reason is the need for customs clearance, you can contact a customs broker, who will process your shipment as quickly as possible.

If there are errors in the documents, you need to contact the sender and ask him to correct the data. The correct data should go to the courier service and customs.

Ordering goods from abroad is always associated with certain risks and in order to minimize them, it is necessary to monitor each stage of delivery yourself or entrust it to the specialists of «Semero».
